If you are looking at personal time management as a way to run yourself down even worse than before, this is not your booklet. The author believes that life is about stringing together a series of high quality experiences, one of which might be work, but the point is to get your tasks done and be free to enjoy the rest of your life too. Why learn a few new tricks for shoving more things into an hour? The idea is to manage your personal time so well that you never feel rushed again –even in high pressure circumstances.

Several years ago two veteran actors, Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman made a movie together called The Bucket List. Without giving a spoiler comment about this movie, “pair of seasoned citizens decide to make a list of all the things they want to accomplish prior to passing and then they go out and attempt to accomplish as many of them as possible.”
Everyone, young, old, and in between, needs a bucket list. This will take time: surely weeks and possibly months of pondering and wondering about what is important enough to go on your own personal bucket list.
Once the list is in place, do not be afraid to rethink it and revise it as often as makes sense. The list will become more stable as you come to know yourself better over time. Now that the list is in place, ask yourself the following questions and write down the answers:
1. What can I do in the next decade to check off things on my personal bucket list?
2. … in the next five years?
3. … in the next two years?
4. … in the next twelve months?
5. … in the next six months?
6. …in the next 90 days?
7. …in the next 30 days?
8. …in the next two weeks?
9. …this week?
10. What can I do in today to check off things on my personal bucket list?
The simple truth is, as you get closer to today, you may only be able to take very tiny baby steps, but the point is to take a little step every day. It is a very satisfying way to live.
