While growing up for most family vacations my family and I would go camping in the woods. Camping is one of my all time favorite things to do. While camping, I love going on hikes and seeing the beauty of the world around us. I love the fresh air and smell of the pine trees. I love just sitting around a campfire at night, smelling the burning wood, staring at the bright fire with the darkness of the night all around up, looking up and seeing all the beautiful bright stars glowing in the dark night sky. I love the sounds you hear, the crackling of the fire, maybe wild animals, a wolf howl or birds chirping or maybe nothing at all, just complete silence away from the worlds. A few or the many complications include heart disease, stroke, effects on your immune system, cancer, gastrointestinal problems, sleep disturbances, and stress can effect your memory, concentration, and learning (“Stress”). Stress has many negative effects on the body if it is constant and for long periods of time. Reducing stress can be crucial to your life. Camping can get away from the stressful situations in life and help reduce stress. While camping you get away from the world. You get away from the stressful situations such as work, that are in your everyday life. I know that one of the reasons why my family goes camping is because it is one of my dad's favorite things to do. He has a job that can be very stressful, especially when he goes on-call once month. He loves to go camping to get away from it everything for a short period of time and just relax and spend time with the family. The University of Maryland Medical Center gave some statistics from a study done by the American Psychological Association that most Americans report feeling moderate-to-high stress levels. With 44% of adults report that their stress level has increased in the past 5 years and the major sources of that stress included money, work (concerns about job loss), and the economy. Also, 39% of
