The U.S and Iraq comparison and foreign policy will help us understand the countries in different ways. The challenges and problems they faced with imposing a democratic form of government on a non-western country including worldwide implications.
The United States of America gain their Independence from Great Britain in 1776. “During the 19th and 20th centuries, 37 new states were added to the original 13 as the nation expanded across the North American continent and acquired a number of overseas possessions” (Central Intelligence Agency). The country suffered from two major crises, the Great Depression in the 1930’s and the Civil War of 1861-1865 (Central Intelligence Agency). The Great Depression was the increase of the unemployment rate because of the stock market crash in 1929. The Civil War was the war between northern and southern states of the US mainly because of slavery. The US became known as a powerful country after their win in World War I1914 to 1918 and II 1939-1945 and the end of the Cold War (Central Intelligence Agency). After World War II the country resulted in low unemployment and inflation and rapid advances in technology (Central Intelligence Agency). There were many other event events that had occurred. “In 1863, Abraham Lincoln freed more than three million slaves with the Emancipation Proclamation” (http://www.qrcodesinmarketing.net/important-dates-in-history.html).
