What is domestic violence? This issue has a variety of definitions but it is important to understand it and know what it really is. Often time’s domestic violence is defined just as physical abuse, but there is more to that. Domestic violence is referred to as physical assault, battery, sexual assault or any other abusive behavior (NCADV). This epidemic is a big issue in society it affects many individuals and can occur to anyone. There are different types and stages of domestic abuse, different causes and who are affected the most. Domestic violence can occur in many different forms. It is important to know the types of abuse in order to be able to recognize the signs of an abusive relationship. Every relationship has arguments, but it depends to what extent the argument goes to and what they are about. The first type of abuse is physical abuse, this form of abuse is the easiest for one to recognize. It includes the following behaviors; hitting, slapping, punching, kicking, burning and any form of physical damage to their partner. The second type of abuse is emotional abuse, this form abuse is hard to recognize unless present when it is occurring. Emotional abuse is the acts of name calling, insulting, extreme jealousy, stalking, isolation and any form of controlling their partner. Then there is sexual abuse, this type of abuse is when one forces their partner to have sex with other people, hurting the partner physically during sex and any other form where sex is…
