Name of Model Project Bounce Back: Forgotten Victims of Domestic Violence is a program that was created to care for the children that are involved in Domestic Violence. Domestic Violence is a rising problem in America and is a major problem, but people don’t see that the children are effected from the crime itself. “Research suggests that between 3.3 million and 10 million children in the United States are exposed to domes- tic violence each year. And more than a decade of empirical studies indi-cates that this exposure can have significant negative effects on children 's behavioral, emotional, social, and cognitive development” (Carter, L., Weithorn, L., & Behrman, R. ,1999, pg.4). That’s an enormous amount of children that are hurt from Domestic Violence and with this program it will rehabilitate the youth of America.
Type of criminal/deviant behavior (or population) that program targets Bounce back is a program that targets the crime of Domestic Violence. Domestic Violence is a terrible crime, and effects everyone in the household. This program will mainly focus on the psychological effects of domestic violence that the kids endure. Parents don’t realize that their actions harm the kids, even if they don’t hurt them physically. “These effects may include behavioral problems such as aggression, phobias, insomnia, low self-esteem, and depression.
