Texting, IMing, tweeting, etc. are all ways in which we have been sucked into the world social media. In the article “College Students ‘Addicted’ to Social Media, Study Finds,” Dr. Rick Nauert, senior editor at Psych Central, discusses how more and more college students are coming forth about being addicted to social media. “I clearly am addicted and the dependency is sickening,” said one person in the study (Nauert). The use of social media is an extremely controversial subject in today’s society. In the article, Nauert discusses the pros and cons of social media. One could say that the uprising of social media is having a more negative impact than a positive one. Although many people use social media and find it very essential, it is safe to say that there is a lot of negativity when it comes to the use of social media. For example, studies have shown that since the uprising of social media, people spend a lot less time with each other in person, and a lot more time communicating over social media. Also, the use of social media has brought up and expanded things such as cyber bullying, sex trafficking, child pornography, etc. Social media has an interesting way of making life easier, yet more difficult at the same time.
