Introduction
Riordan Manufacturing is a global plastics manufacturer of beverage containers, parts, and fan parts. The organization provides products for automotive parts manufacturers, aircraft manufacturers, the Department of Defense, and appliance manufacturers. The company was initially founded as Riordan Plastics, Inc. in 1991. Riordan’s focus was on research and development and licensing of its existing patents. The organization purchased a fan manufacturing plant in 1992. Currently, the company operates a plastic beverage containers’ plant in Georgia, and the plastic fan parts are produced in China. This metric is important because if the first step with the plastic polymer raw materials is not received or completed on time, the entire supply chain for the electric fans in interrupted and delayed.

Supplier relationships and Supply Chain Effects
Riordan is dependent on the relationships the organization has with its suppliers; electric motors and plastic polymers suppliers as well as the organization’s clients. Communication is key. The business has to be in constant communication to ensure that all parts are ordered using an appropriate amount and delivered to Riordan to produce the fans. The business has to ensure to obtain an adequate amount of supplies from its suppliers. Obtain an adequate amount of supplies ensures the forecasted amount as well as unforeseen purchase orders. The major challenge that Riordan faces is the international trade. Riordan has been successful with its electrical fans for many years as a result of its repeat customers. The organization also can produce new custom fans for the new customers. The business’s success and failures can be measured with its on-time delivery rate. The delivery locations are San Jose California, Michigan, and Georgia; however, the plant is located in China. Shipping and delivery fees are up for the business and its customers.
