In “Save the Earth, Buy Less” Jared Blumenfeld points out “China will overtake the United States next year to become the world’s largest producer of greenhouse gases. China and United States together emit 40 percent of the planet’s carbon dioxide.” The most worrying threat to our planet at the present time is global warming. Global warming is a massive problem for one to solve, but we can create positive changes by making environment-conscious personal choices and inspiring others to take collective action. I believe we all can take actions to reduce the global warming: we can reduce pollution by recycling products, we can conserve water and we can reduce the usage of vehicles. All these actions can contribute to making our planet a “greener” place to live.
First of all, in order to reduce the global warming, we need to reduce the pollution. There are many things an individual can do to reduce the pollution and its negative effects on the environment. For example, instead of throwing plastic bottles, we can recycle them. The plastic manufacturing process results in the creation of greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide, which is thought to contribute significantly to the global warming effect. Since the process for recycling plastic water bottles require less energy and fossil fuels, it also results in fewer greenhouse gas emissions.
