Abstract
This paper addresses a presentation that I will deliver to a group of educators (Principals, Assistant Principals, Teachers, Teacher’s Assistants, and any other person in the education arena). By reading this paper it will help guide you through the journey of my presentation where I will definitely convince you of the importance of having effective Professional Learning Communities (PLC). My Passengers One of the biggest things you need to know is your audience in order to at least stand a chance. In Chapter 1, Communications Strategy of Guide to Managerial Communication by Mary Munter, it gave me the necessary tools to help me to know my audience by asking the following questions: 1. Who are they? My passengers are all educators in various roles (Principals, Teachers, Teacher’s Assistants, Parents, District Superintendents, etc.) and various levels of expertise/experience in the education field from Beginning Teacher to Veteran Teacher. They are all gathered together at this symposium called Summer Institute. The Summer Institute is like a gas station for educators to fill up before they start another school year. I am familiar with these passengers on a basic level except for the ones who I know personally. 2. Who is my Primary Audience: My primary audience is the Principals and Superintendents. I feel that if I can get them to understand how important my presentation is they are the one who have more control on if and when this will roll out in the schools or even the district. They are the ones who have the decision making authority and decision makers in the crowd. So if I don’t know who they are, I’ll be looking on the sign in sheet to identify them so I can really focus on them to see how they are receiving my presentation 3.
