Is Islam and violence like a peanut butter and jelly combination? Do they always get along with each other? The growth of terrorist groups such as Boko Haram, ISIS, Al-Qaeda, who have Muslims as their group members, baffle the non-Islamic people regarding the true nature of Islam. Most analysts argue that the terrorist threat is unquestionably Islamic and is not much a deviation from Muslim tradition, whereas others defend that Islamic terrorism diverges from the true teachings. So where does the truth lie? To understand the connection between Islam and violence, one must understand certain facets of the Muslim worldview. According to the historic Muslim faith, religion and government are the two sides of the same coin. Therefore, whenever an Islamic government is referred, the religion is always the first issue ready to create differences. Likewise, if any verdict is given by the Islamic government, it is always pointed out as being the religion(Islam) biased. A close examination of Islam religion and Muslim community leads one to interpret that there are many true perceptions as well as misconceptions. Chronologically, starting with the ancient times, it is historically blind to claim that war is unfamiliar to Islam and scripturally ignorant to contend that jihad is purely…
