Is Abortion Wrong or Right?
Abortion is defined as “The removal of an embryo or fetus from the uterus in order to end the pregnancy” (dictionary.com). However, if only the debate over the abortion issue was as easy as the definition listed above. However, similar to most things in life, a statement or opinion is never right nor wrong, but simply left open for clarification. Those who are against abortion believe that abortion is the murder of innocent human beings who aren’t given a chance at life and the ability to function as a normal individual. Pro-life believers who are against killing unborn children would be more than happy to find the child a loving home instead of killing him/her. There are many different routes a pro-life person may take to be able to provide the child with a great life so why abort? The other side to the debate, of course, is pro-choice. Those who are pro-choice believe that the woman should have the right to choose whether or not she would like to keep her child. They also feel that women should have the right to choose what happens to their own bodies. The Roe vs. Wade case declared that a pregnant woman is entitled to have an abortion until the end of the first trimester of pregnancy without any interference by the state (Roe vs. Wade). Whether or not it is a woman’s right to choose, those who are pro-choice think about the idea of the mothers physical safety. For instance, if the mother were to be in danger if she went forward with giving birth, then that would be a good reason to have an abortion. Another example could be if the mother was raped and pregnant with the rapist’s child. It seems unfair to the mother to keep the child because she was forced into intercourse. If the mother went forth with the pregnancy, she would have to be reminded of that horrific moment in her life when she looked at her child every day. However, the freedom to choose to abort
