After a great amount of research looking to find an adequate Egyptian hieroglyphic resource I stumbled upon the website Egyptian Hieroglyphs that can be found at ‘’. The site was created by a current graduate student Alec, who wanted to share his knowledge with students and any sort of people who have a desire to learn how to read ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. Though no last name is provided and that brings about a certain amount of apprehension, the desire to hide his identity is understandable in the context that it is an internet website and he has no desire for unauthorized contact. The author, Alec, seems to be well informed with his B.A. after studying at Penn State and double majoring in Art History and Classics. Also receiving an M.A. from the University of Memphis in Egyptian Art and Archeology. He is currently on track to complete his Egyptology Ph.D. from Harvard University. To me, this seemed to be a sufficient education to write about his findings and discoveries for others. What I found after my research was a website comprised of lessons in learning hieroglyphs, suggested resources to further your knowledge of the writings of ancient Egyptians, and a bibliography wherein he cites the sources that he used to help create this copyrighted website. This educational website was quite useful to me, and I believe it will be so for other, as a supplement for our studies in our class. The first thing that stood out to me about this…
